Girls Who Code x Meta x RCA Records

As part of this exciting collaboration with Meta, Girls Who Code, RCA Records, and Doja Cat, I had the privilege of working with four talented Girls Who Code members to design and develop a Spark AR filter inspired by Doja Cat’s Planet Her album for Coachella attendees. The effects were bundled with others made by top creators from Meta’s Spark AR Partners Network for the "Coachellaverse" effects collection.
Design Inspiration
This project was a unique opportunity to explore the world of augmented reality (AR), blending our creativity with cutting-edge technology. Our goal was to design an interactive AR filter that captured the essence of Doja Cat’s visually striking performance, which was known for its surreal, futuristic aesthetics and bold, vibrant design elements.
The Planet Her visuals, which defined Doja Cat’s Coachella set, were a perfect inspiration for our project. The performance was a visually immersive experience, combining bold and bright colors, space-age motifs, and alien-like imagery, all of which reflected the futuristic and bold themes of her album Planet Her. Coachella 2022’s design vision further amplified these elements, with its focus on blending art, technology, and performance into a unified experience that pushed the boundaries of live music.
AR Filter Concept and Features
our AR filter included elements like glowy holographic textures, bold pink and purple color schemes, and interactive features.
Working alongside my team, we developed this unique filter using the Spark AR platform, tasked with a range of options from selfie design, body segmentation, make up, and hand tracking to hair segmentation.

Empowering Women in Tech
This collaboration was not just about building an ar filter. it was an opportunity to empower young women in the tech industry, illustrating the exciting career prospects in AR and tech as a whole.
Through this project, we had access to mentorship from AR professionals and guidance from Meta’s Spark AR Partners Network, allowing us to expand our knowledge and grow our technical skills in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Final Outcome and Impact
Our collaborative work was eventually featured on Doja Cat’s and Coachella’s official Instagram profiles, showcasing our combined efforts to create something truly innovative and fun.

Doja Cat’s performance and the Coachella aesthetic were not just the starting point for our project, they were a source of constant inspiration throughout the development process, motivating us to push the boundaries of what’s possible within AR.
This experience has not only sharpened my technical skills but has also given me a deeper understanding of how AR can enhance the entertainment industry, from social media to live performances and beyond.
